While in law school, Patterson Weaver participated in the Criminal Representation Clinic, where he represented indigent clients in traffic and misdemeanor cases.  Due to his tireless efforts on behalf of his clients, and the positive outcomes he was able to attain, Patterson Weaver was awarded the Outstanding Student award by the clinic.

During his third year of law school, Patterson Weaver expanded his knowledge of, and
experience in, criminal law while working as a Trial Intern for the 1st Judicial District Attorney’s Office, prosecuting traffic and misdemeanor case.  This paid internship provided Patterson Weaver with the opportunity to learn Colorado’s criminal statutes, and to apply the art of trial advocacy in the real world.  While with the 1st Judicial District’s Attorney’s Office, Patterson Weaver obtained an outstanding trial record of 16-2, including a DUI jury trial record of 5-0.  After graduating from law school and passing the bar, Patterson Weaver worked for two years as a prosecutor with the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, where he started in county court handling traffic and misdemeanor cases, and later was promoted to district court, where he handled a large variety of felony cases.  While working as a Deputy District Attorney, Patterson Weaver tried more than two dozen cases with a high rate of success, and was awarded the Complex Prosecution Award from the Pikes Peak Regional DUI Task Force for his work in the area of Drug Recognition Expert testimony admissibility in the prosecution of Driving Under the Influence of Drugs (DUI-D) cases.

After two years with the District Attorney’s office, Patterson Weaver moved on to work as a criminal defense attorney with the Gasper Law Group, where he uses his experience as a former prosecutor to help get the best resolution possible for his clients.  Patterson Weaver takes pride in focusing on the particular needs of the individual client while guiding them through the complex and (often) frustrating criminal justice system.
