The Gasper Law Group is one of the few Criminal Defense firms in Colorado Springs to have a full-time Criminal Investigative Division headed by Chief Investigator, Mark C. Cohrs.
Mr. Cohrs began his law enforcement career in 1978 with a three year commitment to the US Army Military Police Corps, resulting in a duty assignment to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where he served as a select member of the AWOL Apprehension Unit.
Mr. Cohrs was honorably discharged in 1981 while holding the rank of Acting Sergeant, and then transitioned into the Colorado Springs Police Department Training Academy.
Mark served seven years in the patrol division and three years as a member of the prestigious Tactical Enforcement Unit, more commonly known as SWAT. After leaving CSPD's SWAT team as a Master Patrol Officer he was subsequently hired as a sworn investigator for the El Paso County District Attorney's Office.
His duties at the District Attorney's Office consisted of the investigation of police officer involved shootings, while routinely participating as an Advisory Witness in a wide range of felony prosecutions ranging from Sexual Assault to Homicides. Mark was also assigned as one of four Special Investigators whose duties consisted of assisting police agencies in El Paso County and Teller County with the investigation of complex situations.
In addition to his routine duties, Mark also served as the Evidence Custodian for the District Attorney's Evidence Facility, while serving as a member of the Colorado District Attorney's Investigator Association, in which he also held the elected sequential offices of Secretary, Vice President and President.
Mark resigned from the District Attorney's Office in 1999 and established Cohrs Legal Investigations, a private investigation company that specialized in criminal defense. In that capacity, Mark contracted with several reputable law offices within the Pikes Peak Region to consult and conduct investigations on behalf of defendants charged with criminal offenses ranging from traffic violations to Sexual Assaults and Homicides.

Mark Cohrs has been a resident of the Colorado Springs area since 1981, is married with three children, and enjoys a traditional western lifestyle. Mr. Cohrs is a proud member of the Pikes Peak Range Riders, and is also a member of a specialized western entertainment group named Legendary Longhorns, whose members ride and demonstrate the versatility of specially trained Texas Longhorn steers.
